July 2019 – First Place of the Winning Pitch Challenge

Jeffrey Gross, MD, received a plaque and $10,000 honorarium for First Place in the Winning Pitch Challenge at the American Society of Retinal Specialists’ annual meeting in Chicago in July 2019.  At this “Shark Tank” of retina, four judges voted the Speculet™ as the winning pitch and product.

We could not have achieved this early success without the talents and hard work of BioGenware Co-Founder and mechanical engineer John Lowsky of ARK Therapeutic and the guidance of our mentor Mike Fanning of Vortex Surgical.

The honorarium is being used to finalize tooling of the injection mold and final testing of resins.

Also as a result of the announcement, a retina colleague asked the BioGenware design team to CAD and prototype their invention.
